Busted!
Hahaha... Zak has started to catch the bus home from school in an effort to have him doing it with no dramas when I go back to work. VERY stressful for me but I'm coping ok. He gets dropped at the local highschool which is a five minute walk from our home. Its on a busy-ish road, not a major road - just a bit of school traffic. The rule is that he MUST use the pedestrian crossing. It was raining this afternoon around the time he was due home so I thought I'd duck around in the car to pick him up. Tsk tsk tsk Zak - he starts to cross the road away from the crossing. He had plenty of time to cross but thats not the point! He sees me so backs back to the footpath and comes to the car. He knew he was in trouble. Might need to do a couple of random checks on him from time to time I think!

Forgot to add this one to my latest favourites!
It's the result of an online challenge at http://www.thescrapbookinghut.ning.com/.

The next online challenge is on Wednesday 17 June - I'm really looking forward to it. I have no idea how the layout is going to turn out which is all part of the surprise. Its only a really small forum at this stage, hopefully a few more people take part on Wednesday night.

After all the layouts are uploaded forum members vote on their favourite. The winner will host the next challenge.

Cold...

Brrr...winter's here! Thank goodness for air conditioning. Although, its not worth it having to listen to the energy monitor beeping every time it goes over $2 an hour.

So glad I don't live in Toowoomba anymore - I can't really complain about the cold here in Brisbane because compared to some parts its quite balmy!

So whats been happening?

Robbie had his 4 month check up and needles a few weeks ago. He weighed in at 6.3kg - I thought he'd be heavier. I'm not sure what the "normal" weight is for a bubby his age, but I'm not going to worry about it - he's happy and healthy and the doc didn't express any concern. He's started having a few solids (if you can call mushed up baby food solid) now. Seems to be enjoying it. He's really starting to develop a gorgeous personality now - I love this age when they're starting to discover new things every day. He's found his toes over the last couple of days - very cute! A friend loaned us a walker and he's loving it!

We've got him booked into childcare for when I go back to work in September. I'm dreading it. I know it will all be okay - but blah..

We spent the long weekend out at Jason's parent's place at Tara. Zak loves going out there - I think it has something to do with the four wheeler. This pic was taken not long after he rolled it. Argh.. I think I aged about ten years in that moment. Not a scratch on him thank god!

I've been doing lots of scrapping! Gotta make the most of it while I can. Went to a crop night last night at my local store, Paper Addiction. Was a great night but I felt like a tired old woman so didn't last till midnight. But managed to get a couple more pages done in Zak's first year album and a couple of 12x12 layouts almost finished. Just gotta put the finishing touches on.

A couple of my favourite latest layouts:

This one was my first attempt at using one of those Heidi Swap resist thingies. I started off not really liking it but as the colour developed it really started to improve. I ended up putting this one on a canvas and giving it to Jason's parents. It's them in the photos, they call Robbie Possum.

This one was originally for one of the challenges in 52 pick up at Little Scrapbook shop but I mucked it up by not reading the instructions properly (no patterned paper). I love how this turned out though!

Another layout for 52 pick up at Little Scrapbook Shop. This one was all about white space - my favourite kind of layout! Its actually a 12x12 layout but I was too lazy to faff around with the scanner! And yet another for 52 pick up - I think this one was to use more than 1 or 2 patterned papers. Love this photo of Robbie and love how the layout turned out.

Growing up and pushing boundaries...
Every Tuesday and Thursday night at about 8.30 when I hear the car pull in to the driveway I think to myself... "please have behaved yourself tonight". Jason takes Zak and two of his mates to Tae Kwon Do and I dread the nights that he comes home and says there has been shenanigans. Last night before they got home I had that feeling of dread. And yep.... Apparently Zak and Gordy were being right little prats and at the end of the class Zak was very rude and disrespectful to Instructor Anne. I asked what he said but Jason said it wasn't so much what he said but HOW he said it.. Sigh... I have a lot of patience for this - I know that he's just growing up and working out how far he can push things. But Jason.. nope.. NO patience whatsoever. I think he expects kids to go from being kids to adults without all the hard stuff in between. I'm not bagging him for it.. I just wish he'd relax a bit more. Its made harder by the fact that he's not Zak's biological Dad and I'm probably too easy on Zak because I worry that he'll feel like Robbie is the favourite.. bla bla bla.. I feel better now I've got that out! This parenting stuff is bloody hard!

One of the things I love about being on maternity leave.... I can go back to bed when Robbie does after we drop Zak at school! I'm unashamed to say that I think I'm the queen of napping!
Yawn... toodles :)
