The naughty corner

So I had a call from the Principal of big boy's school today.

Not good.

Long story short, he forged a note to get himself two free sausages at the sausage sizzle. Then when he was pulled up on it, he lied. To the Principal.

So as punishment, over the holidays he has to write a letter of apology to the P&C (they were the ones running the sausage sizzle), pay for the snags and hand his student leader badge in. Principal told me he isn't going to lose it and Zak told me he was told he needs to earn it back.

Sigh.

Disappointed.

I'm not dishing out any extra punishment at home as I think the school is dealing with it well enough. But I am considering asking the Principal that Zak be asked to apologise to the P&C at their next meeting. Is that too cruel?

Stealing and lying. Thats not the boy I have raised.

Mind you, when I was a similar age, I forged a check from my parents to buy a school recorder. I learnt from it. Hopefully he learns from this.

*Groan*... he's growing up

I love looking through the big boy's school books when he brings them home.. makes me realise how much he is growing up though.

I found some "artwork" inside the front cover of one of them tonight. Was going to post a photo here but then realised it might offend someone. He drew the picture and then scribbled over the top of it. I took a pic and sent it to one of my friends and she suggested maybe its a "rocketship in a bad storm"... lol.. ah the joy of boys!

Haven't done any stitching this week. Having a little break before I get back into it.

Work has been quite bearable over the last week or so. Really hoping it stays that way. I've got a couple of days off coming up. Can't wait. Need to go up to Toowoomba and see my Grandpa on Friday as he is really not well. Will call in and see my mum on my way home from Grandpa's. She has started her chemo and her hair has started to fall out again. Then after Easter we are off to spend Anzac Day with Jason's Grandad in Ballina.

This weekend

This weekend I'm going to finish Lest we Forget!

Missing my big boy like crazy. He's on school camp this week. Home tomorrow night. Can't wait to get home tomorrow night and give him big smooches. Wish I didn't have to work late.

Update - Lest We Forget

It's getting closer.. now the big decision is to focus on the soldier's body or continue the background down the left hand side. Decisions decisions. If only that was the most important decision I have to make each day lol.

I didn't get to spend much time on it this weekend. I took Zak to Wet and Wild (its an awesome water park on the Gold Coast, here in Queensland) with one of his mates yesterday. They kept going like two little energizer bunnies all day lol.

The two hits of the day had to be the Flowrider (a man made wave thingy) and the Skycoaster (a huge big swing thing). Here he is surfing the flowrider.. closely followed by one of many stacks!

And here is the view looking up to where they fall from on the Skycoaster - I'm not joking when I say it was high! I got a bit of video and uploaded it to Facebook - but I can't seem to load video on here. You'll have to take my word for it. Then a mid air shot of them - they would have kept going again and again but it was an extra cost so one go was all they had.

Today I had to catch up on my normal weekend jobs.. washing, cleaning, grocery shopping.. etc etc.. boring - like I said in my last post - groundhog day.

Going to go back to the couch now and decide which to do.. the body or the background..

TUSAL Update

Thought I best get my TUSAL update here before I forget! Few more ORTS in there since last month. Mostly from Lest we Forget.

Big boy's birthday today. Needless to say I'm having the same panic attacks that most mothers of 12 year old boys do.

Giggles

Late finish tonight. I've only been home about half an hour. In that time I've managed to get a cake in the oven and plop myself here. Big boy's birthday tomorrow so we are having chocolate cake for breakfast. Because thats how we roll.

He has a mate over tonight and holy shit.. you'd swear it was two girls in there giggling. They've both got their phones and I suspect there may be girls on the receiving end of the text messages. When did my boy get big enough to have a phone? And be interested in texting girls?

My poor big boy :(

My big boy doesn't get sick often, but when he does, he falls hard. Or maybe he does get crook but he has a high pain threshold. He woke up yesterday morning for school and couldn't eat his brekky so I knew something was up. He's had the past two days off school and he went to the doctor today and we've been told he has a mastoid infection. Thats the bone right behind our ears. I'm not sure how he got it so of course I googled (damn you doctor google) and it looks like the most common cause is an untreated middle ear infection spreading to the mastoid bone. Mother of the year.. not. He's got antibiotics and pain killers. His fever seems to have gone now but the swelling is so obvious. He was one of those boys who was born with nice little ears. At the moment one of them is sticking out. Check this photo out. And the one below shows how red it is.

It makes me feel better seeing him being able to stay upright and actually asking for food (and being able to manage some humour). The last day and half he has hardly eaten anything. He missed out on his student leader presentation at school today and tomorrow he'll miss out on a canoo-ing adventure he's been looking forward to for weeks. He was supposed to go to his dad's tomorrow but he'll be staying with me for the weekend. His dad is cool like that.

So it will be a quiet weekend with just the two of us. Jason is off to Ballina to see his Grandad. I was going too but I can't leave my big boy.

Hmmm...

Big boy finished his shower tonight and came out to announce that he has a schedule for the next few days' brushing and flossing. This is the boy that I have to remind every night to brush his teeth. I sound like my mother "do your teeth"..

So I ask him if it has anything to do with the Blue Light Disco coming up on Friday night. He said he might want to kiss someone. What the? He's only 12 (well almost 12).. far out! I told him he didn't have to worry about kissing girls yet - he had heaps of time to do that. So then we had a bit of a moment.. he was sitting up on his bed and I had gone in to say goodnight so I was lying next to him trying to find out who he wants to kiss.. then he grabs snuffy (the last remaining member of his sleep team) turns him around makes a fart noise with snuffy's butt in my face. Yes.. he is still only a boy lol
